Visiting the Hatchery

We visit the Laurel Hill Trout Farm and see our fish for the 2008 fishing season......

Matt Short with his daughter Mattea and son Kobe visit Laurel Mtn. Trout Farm on Rt 31 near Hidden Valley Resort.A box full of big ones !

A cool day, and great time learning about trout, and how they are raised.........Adam Pritts shows a 6-7 lb rainbow trout.A 4-5 lb palomino. A hybrid rainbow.Adam moves thru raceway box scooping fish for us to see.

The 2008 trout class is plentiful, big and healthy.A look at the raceway feeder system.Golden palominos, stick out like a sore thumb.A brown for the wall for sure !

Big fish, little big fish, baby fish. They are all here..............

The nursery is a place of germ free concern.50,000 fry in each of these tubs.

Adam explains the process from egg to delivery, Those drawers are where the eggs are hatched.Adam must keep all this area very clean. We don't touch a thing in here. Our young members look over the egg trays as the 50 degree water comes up thru them.TTC pres. Gamble gets the edge on Joe and Glenn by doing a little hook setting practice.

Thank you Adam for the tour. It's always fun after a long winter....

Annual visit gets our thumbs up, as usual.

Sorry Joe, is there any big brookies ?  Maybe yes, maybe no only I know for sure....
