Leo Altimus farm, stream improvements.

Spring 2009 was a special time for Graham's farm on Hippocrite Creek and Leo Altimus' stretch of Hendricks Run. Here is how it went . First at Graham's farm having steep eroded banks and cattle access to all parts of Hippocrite Creek a tributary to Hendricks Run.

Not a stocked area but a real sediment polluter.

Bank erosion dealt with using log vanes and stone lining.

May become a stocked area someday. We'll watch these vanes create habitat.

1500 feet of pasture fencing bring cows and equipment to specified stream crossings.

Better water quality as a result of cows having limited access.

Leo's feild is a beloved stretch of fishing for many anglers. These will be some great improvements over time.

Hendricks Run is all like this or worse. High mud banks with shallow stream in a wide channel.

Log vanes with undercut areas to hide trout.

Thes will be neat to watch with time.

All created by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Cold Water Fisheries crew. Great job to Ben Wright and his workers.
